Gathering as a group, we will begin each day by practicing radio taiso, a form of Japanese calisthenics broadcasted on the radio in the morning. We will read aloud from books and excerpts that give insight into various art forms that originated in Japan. Each day students will engage in art, STEM, and food activities designed to further engross them in Japanese life. We also incorporate group play with traditional Japanese games and toys. Games like "Jan-Ken" (rock-paper-scissors), "Daruma Otoshi" (a game involving stacking wooden blocks), or "Kendama" (a cup-and-ball game) are not only enjoyable but also culturally enriching.
